It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Moore (née Ferris) announces her passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice on April 6, 2026, at the age of 88.
Elsie was the loving mother of the late Wayne Moore, the late Rose Marie Moore, Sharon Maxfield (Ed Thomas) and Barbara Collette (Donald). She was a proud grandmother to Jodie Arrowsmith (Andrew), Tim Maxfield (Caroline), Brian Maxfield (Sarah), Kelly Maxfield, Natasha Collette (Keith) and Josh Collette (Ashley), and a cherished great-grandmother to Isabella, Wyatt, Liam, Isabelle, Aiden, William, and Lucas.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Ferris; her sister, Edith Sherwood; and her brothers, Bob and Jimmy Ferris.
Elsie will be fondly remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, and for her deep love and dedication to her family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge #389 in Forest and the Forest United Church. For many years she loved to go to vendor/craft shows where she met many new friends.
In 1987, Elsie moved from New Brunswick to Forest, Ontario to be closer to her family, a decision she never once regretted, as family meant everything to her. She also held a special place in her heart for her many beloved “fur babies.”
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Dr. Kim, Dr. H.H., and all the nurses, PSW's and staff for their exceptional care and kindness. Special mention to Dr Sung of Bluewater Health "mom's special friend".
Elsie will be greatly missed by many family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place, and, in accordance with Elsie’s wishes, no service will be held.
