Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Bluewater Health, Olivette “Olive” Leonette Palmer passed away at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Jim, and loving mother of Peggy (Rick), Steven (Lori), and Richard (Patti). Cherished grandmother of Ainsley (Brock), Aivrey, and Aiden, and great-grandmother of Dallas and Amarya. Treasured sister of Claudette (the late Tony), Raymonde, Roberta (Jim), and Mona. Olive was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Annie, and her siblings, Caroline, Yolande, Violet, Pauline, and O’Neil. Survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

First and foremost, there was no mistaking the love and strength Olive had for her family, it was endless. It didn’t matter what challenges she faced; Olive’s selflessness was evident in the ways she made sure that her family was always taken care of. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Olive was a fantastic cook, always making delicious home-cooked, healthy meals. After Jim passed, Olive picked up darts and became very skilled at it! She always looked forward to watching her sports – golf, hockey, tennis and baseball – and she adored listening to music. One of her favourite pastimes was going to bingo with her sisters. Thank you for being the best mom in the whole world. We love you more. Forever in our hearts, memories, and thoughts.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Olive’s wishes, a private family burial of ashes was held. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of your choosing (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
