With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria Louise Perry, who left us peacefully on May 21, 2025 at the age 88. Gloria was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving children: Julie Ann Moriarity (Vince), Jeff Perry (Robin), and Janice Smith (Bill). She was a proud grandmother to Ryan Moriarity (Portia), Blair Drydak (Jesse), Cole Moriarity (Lindsey), Brock Perry, Ella Perry (Nash), Nicco Darisi (Bri), Cody Smith, Shane Smith, and Brandon Smith. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Jack Drydak, Nellie Drydak, Charlotte Moriarity, Baby Moriarity (due in July), Leo Darisi, and Lanah Darisi. She will be missed by her lifelong friend Marlene Lane and many others. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Richard Perry (2011), her parents Alfred and Madeline Hutchison, her sister Diane Dunseath, and many dear friends. Gloria worked as a nurse on the surgical floor and later in the pharmacy at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a proud longtime member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, building lifelong friendships. Gloria treasured her Wednesday night bridge games, Thursday coffee group and her YMCA exercise group. Above all, Gloria was Nanny – the ever-present cheerleader in the lives of her grandchildren. Whether it was a school event, sporting match, or recital, she was there with her warm smile and unwavering support. Visitation will take place at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Gloria Perry to Bluewater Health Palliative Care (cheques only at the funeral home please).
