Maria Simoes, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Fairfield Park, Wallaceburg at the age of 89.
Maria was born in Coimbra, Portugal and was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Marques. She came to Canada in 1969 to join her husband along with her two children.
Beloved wife of the late Albino Simoes (1998).
Loving mother and mother-in-law of Cidalia and Albino Sampaio of Wallaceburg and Sergio and Ceu Simoes of Chatham.
Cherished grandmother (Avó) to Michael, Lita, Carla, Nicole, Matthew and Jay along with their partners Taylor, Dave, Lucas, Scott. Great Grandmother (Avó) of Elena and Mariella, (Super Vovó) of Nicolas and Isabella, and (Vozinha) of Frankie, Lucy and Amalia.
Maria was a hard worker as a farm labourer for many years. A special thank you to Fairfield Park for their care since she became a resident there in 2023.
Family and friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg, on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 12 noon from Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Wallaceburg. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg and reception to follow at the Kinsmen Community Hall (1416 Dufferin Ave, Wallaceburg. N8A 2W5). As an expression of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice may be left at the funeral home.
