Peacefully, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Bluewater Health, Harry Szymanski passed away at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Rita Marie Szymanski (Lucio). Loving father of Susan (Siep) Nyholt, Laurie (Gary) Delavigne, and Paul (Janice) Szymanski. Cherished Dzia Dzia to Danielle, Nicole, Holly (Matt), Randi (John), Tom, Donna, and Lisa. Dear brother of the late Jean (Henry) Iwanciewicz, Ted (Regina) Szymanski, Julius (Susan) Szymanski, the late Mary (Stan) Kempa, Irene Szymanski and Bernice (Ron) Szymanski. Brother-in-law of Joe (Marion) Lucio, George (Connie) Lucio and the late John (Donna) Lucio. Harry will be lovingly remembered by countless nieces, nephews, friends, and Lakeland neighbours. Harry was proud of his Polish heritage and his hardworking parents who immigrated from Poland and purchased a farm in Chatham. He and his beloved wife Rita moved to Sarnia in 1960 and raised their family. He was a volunteer firefighter back in the day as well as a scout leader. Harry started his career at a young age at Dow Chemical Canada and retired in 1993. During his work career he travelled to Brazil and South Korea. His strong work ethic truly matched his personal day to day life ethic. He was a man of deep faith, strong principles and integrity. Harry loved fishing, hunting, bird watching and wine making. There is nothing he could not fix or build or brainstorm; he was the “go to” for all his family and many in the neighbourhood. Harry was that person who “never needed or expected” to see his countless deeds, service and help noticed. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
