Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, George Tsaprailis passed away at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 49 years, Helene Kaimakamis-Tsaprailis. Loving father of Evaggelia, Angela (Darryl), and the late Konstantinos Dino. Adored grandfather of Jacob George, Elena Lorraine, Konstantina Deanna Zoe, and Sophia Elizabeth. Fondly remembered by his godson Adam Regier. Dear brother of Patroula (late Argiris), the late Elias (Aglaia), the late Toula (late Theofanis-Maria), the late Paul (Katina), Angie (Tom), Kalithea (late George), and Steve. Cherished son of the late Konstantinos and Eleni. Dearly loved by all nieces and nephews from Canada and Greece.
George was born in Aetohorion Karditsas, Greece, September 2, 1947. He left home to further his education at 12 years of age and lived with his sister Patroula in Volos. He worked the summers to contribute to the family expenses. George immigrated to Canada in 1965 to work and be with his brother Paul. George and Paul owned and operated the Corunna Restaurant as of 1972 until Paul retired. He and his wife Helene then continued to run the restaurant together until 2018. He married his wife Helene Kaimakamis on September 26, 1976. They welcomed their daughter Angela the following July 29, 1977 and their son Konstantino Dino on November 8, 1978. George and his wife worked hard to educate their children and to have a good life. Unfortunately, George and Helene lost their son to an accident in 2009 at the age of 30. George was an extremely loving, caring and compassionate person, who helped everyone he came in contact with. He was known as being extremely generous and was a mentor to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly and missed by all who got the privilege to know him.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Demetrios Church, 1299 Murphy Rd., Sarnia, on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the St. Demetrios Legacy Fund (cheques at the funeral home or to the church please).
