After a long illness, Robert “Bob” Whelen passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the age 72.
Beloved husband of Rose for 49 years, and devoted father of Jesse and Tyler (Andrea). Proud and loving grandpa to Oliver and Everly-Grace. Son of the late Charles and Jean of Tiverton. Bob will be deeply missed by his brothers Randy (Wendy), Mike (the late Kim), and Shawn (Bobbie), his sister Rhonda (Jody), as well as his many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Bob was a proud 40-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793. He took great pleasure in classic cars, motorcycles, his big garage, and his loyal dog, Rocky. A true hard worker, Bob was known for his ability to fix anything – and to do it to perfection.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all the PSWs, nurses, OT, NP, and Dr. MacSweeney for their compassionate care and unwavering support.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, his body was donated to science. A private gathering will be held in the spring.
