Cary Clifford Scores Hole-in-One on Hole 17
A member’s superstition paid off when a gold golf ball sunk into the cup on Tuesday.

Member Cary Clifford hit a hole-in-one on hole 17 on Tuesday, Sept. 10, using an 8 iron from 130 yards.
What makes the shot particularly special is that Clifford's prized ball itself became the trophy. Clifford uses a gold golf ball on every par 3, a personal tradition that finally paid off.
"Every par 3 Cary pulls out a gold golf ball, so it would make a perfect hole-in-one trophy," the club noted. "Well, it became a trophy tonight."
