The Sarnia Legionnaires played their second game in as many nights, losing 5-1 to the London Nationals after being outshot 47-27 at the Pat Stapleton Arena Thursday night.
Sarnia lost their second straight game this week, once again facing a large number of shots. Sarnia goaltender Jack Martin turned away 42 shots, as goaltending continues to be a bright spot with this Legionnaires club.
The Nationals, who improved to 8-3-0 and kept pace with the LaSalle Vipers at the top of the standings, didn’t waste any time Thursday night, taking a 1-0 lead just a little over three minutes into the first. Austin Guevremont picked up his second goal of the season to open the scoring.
London would score three more before the end the first — Peter Fagan scoring his third and fourth of the season, while Talon Palmer added his eighth to put the Nationals in front 4-0 after the opening 20 minutes.
Ty Moffat would score the lone Sarnia goal, his third of the season. Jimmy monks and Wesley Brooks picked up the assists on the goal that cut the London lead to 4-1 after two periods.

Colton Chipman would add his ninth goal of the season on the third period, as London would hang onto the 5-1 win.
Both teams would struggle on the powerplay; Sarnia was unable to capitalize on their five chances, while the Nationals were unable to convert despite six chances with the man advantage.
Carter Froggett picked up the win in net for London, stopping 26 of 27.
Sarnia falls to 4-5-1 now on the season and will look to Saurday to get back in the win column.
Sarnia is idle Friday night, then back at it Saturday when they play host to the St Mary’s Lincolns, St Mary’s plays Strathroy Friday night before visting the Pat Stapleton Arena on Saturday.
