Kerry Fraser says he has never forgotten where he came from.

The former NHL referee said so after the Sarnia-Lambton Sports Hall of Fame announced it would induct the man with the perfect hair at its annual dinner Sept. 27 at the Camlachie Community Centre.

“It’s a tremendous honour for me to be honoured in my hometown,” said Fraser, who will join father Hilt Fraser in the local Hall of Fame.

Fraser, 62, is hopeful his brother Rick will also one day be considered for the HOF.

During a 30-year career at ended in 2010, Fraser wore the red armband in a record 2,165 regular season and playoff games, including refereeing 12 Stanley Cup finals, where he became the youngest to do so in 1985.

He also refereed the World Cup of Hockey and the Nagano Olympics in 1998.

Referee Magazine rated the Sarnia native in the top 10 referees in any sport.

Tickets for the induction dinner are $40, and can be purchased by contacting Pat Brethauer at 519-328-2118 or emailing [email protected]

Other inductees will be announced next month.
