I have, like many people in the Sarnia area, walked our lovely waterfront for many years admiring not only the beautiful waterfront view but the gorgeous work that has been carried out by the city on the flowers and gardens that decorate our waterfront. Thank so much you for that.
On the other hand, I seem to recall that there was, before the MacPherson was constructed, supposed to be a fountain of sorts on the waterfront as well. That never really materialised.
Instead, we have the McPherson Fountain. Now I don't mean to denigrate the fountain or the MacPhersons, as I am sure it was donated for the very best intentions and with a lot of pride and expense. However, every time I walk by the fountain today, I am presented with a lot of rusted pipes and whatever is growing on the rocks around it. It is not an attractive monument for the waterfront at all, as long as it is left to sit there with no maintenance to make it appear as truly presentable. It isn't. Why can't something be done to enhance its appearance? The twenty-foot high tangle of pipes are a problem I am sure for maintenance, but still . . .
