Peacefully, with family by his side on Sunday, September 14, 2025, Harvey Thomas Austin passed away at Bluewater Health at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Carolyn Simon. Loving father of Diana (Patti) Austin, Daniel (Susan) Austin, the late Douglas Austin, Steve (Kerry) Austin, and April Austin. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Harvey will be missed by Carolyn’s family. Dear brother of Donna Horsman, Doreen Plant and Cheryl Parnham. Survived by his Aunt June Walker and by several nieces and nephews. Deeply missed by his best friend Jack Waddell. Predeceased by his parents Hector and Margaret Austin.
Harvey was an avid sports fan – his favourite teams were the Detroit Lions and Toronto Blue Jays. He was a car enthusiast, loved rebuilding old cars and cruising in his Corvette. Harvey’s faith was an important part of his life and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church – Sarnia.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following. A private close-family interment will take place at a later date.
