Surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Princess Margaret Hospital, Roy Mauti passed away peacefully at the age of 61. Beloved husband and best friend of 32 years to Katia Mauti (Palazzi). Loving father to Gabriella (Matt) and Christian (Youmi). Devoted son to Lina and the late Cesare Mauti. Dear brother of Julie Mauti and John Mauti. Cherished son-in-law of Paolo and the late Betty Palazzi. Loving brother-in-law to Louie and Paula Mele, Tony and Sandra Aversa, and Barbara Palazzi. Adored nephew, cousin, and Zio to many. Special godfather to Aly Lee.

Born and raised in Toronto, Roy is a proud alumnus of the University of Toronto where he completed his Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Roy’s love for science influenced both his personal and professional life. Beyond his fulfilling career of over 20 years at Nova Chemicals, Roy found great joy in speaking about the plastics industry, taking any opportunity he could to engage in conversation on the topic, especially during drives through the chemical plants and refineries of Sarnia with his wife and kids.

Roy was known for his kindness, easy-going nature, and his subtle humor. He was a truly selfless man who found joy in the happiness of others and the simple things in life. Those that had the pleasure of knowing Roy will forever remember him with unparalleled reverence and love.

Roy was passionate about sports and an adept player of many, enjoying countless afternoons of golf, tennis, and pickleball with his friends and family. Known for being competitive yet humble, Roy was always someone you wanted on your team. He will forever be missed on and off the courts.

Above all, no matter the circumstances, Roy’s top priority was his family. He loved spending time with his wife and kids, whether it was cheering on the Toronto Raptors, taking a sunset walk on the beach, or cooking up his famous breakfast. Throughout his life he exemplified what it means to be a loving husband, father, and friend.

The Mauti family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses at the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. They will be forever indebted to Dr. Martha Louzada and Dr. Sita Bhella for their devotion and expert care throughout Roy’s journey with Multiple Myeloma. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Roy are asked to consider the Walk of Champions for Multiple Myeloma Research at the LRCP. https://lhsf.donordrive.com/Participant/6478
