The City of Sarnia is hiring election workers for the October 26 municipal election, with positions paying up to $375 for the day.

Four roles are available: deputy returning officer, revision clerk, tabulator operator and greeter.

Deputy returning officers will be paid $375, revision clerks and tabulator operators $350, and greeters $300. The rates include compensation for mandatory training.

Election workers will help operate voting locations, process voters, issue ballots and assist with vote counting, depending on their assigned role.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old by election day, legally entitled to work in Canada, and available for both mandatory in-person training and voting day.

Candidates, registered third-party advertisers and immediate family members of candidates are not eligible to work as election officials. Applicants also cannot be actively working to support or oppose a candidate in Sarnia’s municipal and school-board election.

The City has not listed an application deadline, but applications remain open as of September 8.

Voting day is Monday, October 26. Paper-ballot voting locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Applications can be submitted online through the City’s election worker application: Apply here
