The 2026 exhibition season at Gallery in the Grove begins this month with a diverse look at national identity through the eyes of regional artists. The juried exhibition, titled Oh! My Canada!, officially opens to the public on Saturday, February 7.
The showcase features forty-three selected works from across Southwestern Ontario, narrowed down from ninety total submissions. Artists were challenged to interpret the unique character of the country, ranging from vast landscapes and urban environments to personal stories of cultural diversity.
Jurors Susan Perry and Ian McLean noted the high level of technical skill and creative ambition in the submissions. They described the resulting collection as one that is as expansive and varied as the country itself, utilizing a wide range of artistic mediums.
The exhibition serves as a primary fundraiser for the gallery’s community initiatives. Proceeds from art sales directly support educational platforms for Sarnia-Lambton students, including the Visiting Artists in Lambton Schools program and various student scholarships.
An opening reception will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on February 7. During the event, three major cash prizes will be awarded at noon:
Community members are also encouraged to participate by voting for their favorite piece. The People’s Choice Award, a $250 prize sponsored by Skeeter Barlow’s, will be announced at the conclusion of the exhibition’s run.
Gallery in the Grove continues to operate as a registered charitable organization led entirely by volunteers. This model ensures that local artistic expression remains accessible to the community without the influence of outside corporate interests.
The exhibition runs until March 14. The gallery, located in Bright’s Grove, is open Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
