The Sadies play Refined Fool’s Davis patio tonight with local opener Jacob Barber & The Melody Machine

Toronto’s The Sadies headline an outdoor show on the Davis patio at Refined Fool Brewing Co. in Sarnia this evening, with local act Jacob Barber & The Melody Machine opening. Doors at 8 p.m., tickets $25+ advance or $35+ tax at the door.

The Sadies are supporting their album Colder Streams, which won the 2023 JUNO for Adult Alternative Album of the Year and made the Polaris Music Prize short list. The band, long known for blending country, garage rock, and psychedelic sounds, continues to tour as a trio after the 2022 death of guitarist Dallas Good. They perform both new material and songs from their extensive catalogue.

Opening the night is Jacob Barber & The Melody Machine. Barber is a longtime Sarnia musician who has played with Bad Habit, Dream Seer, The Aventurines, and Melody Machine. His music draws from 1960s and ’70s folk-rock and pop, with jangling guitars and psychedelic textures. He has released four self-produced albums since 2018, and a fifth, Ordinary Moments, is due this month. On stage he is joined by Daphne Hibma (organ, vocals), Taylor Pevec (bass, vocals), and Matt Giresi (drums).
