A Sarnia woman devoted to ending gender-based violence is once again holding her annual artisan market to benefit local charity.

Tracey MacDonald’s ‘United We Stand’ vendor event will take place Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Polish Hall in Sarnia. The event was launched several years ago as the ‘Women Helping Women’ fundraiser in honour of her friend Jessica Nethery, who was killed by her ex-boyfriend in 2002.

Proceeds from the event, featuring more than two dozen local vendors, will go towards prevention education programming at the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre Sarnia-Lambton, MaDonald said.

“It has become even more clear to me that to honour Jessica’s memory and further prevent more tragedy, we need to start with proper education for our children and youth,” she said.

“I am proud of the preventative work I have seen the centre do and will continue to support this and many more organizations who aid in the prevention of gender-based violence.”

In addition to the in-person event, an online auction will run from Oct. 24 to 31. For more, visit the event Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/345123277716303
