The Bluewater Rotary Club of Sarnia and the IODE Honourable Malcolm Cameron Chapter have partnered to provide a $1,500 boost to a local student entering the skilled trades. The grant was recently awarded to Chasity Reidel, a graduate of Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School (AMSS).
Reidel will use the funds to continue her studies at Lambton College. The initiative highlights a local effort to support residents in their career goals and strengthen the bonds within the Sarnia-Lambton community.
The IODE chapter noted that this specific award was made possible through a generous grant provided by the Bluewater Rotary Club. Both organizations emphasize the importance of supporting education and youth within the region.
"I am always so delighted to see a young student pursuing a dream and a young woman in the trades is so inspiring," said Marilyn, representing the IODE Honourable Malcolm Cameron Chapter. She noted that the award reflects the community’s commitment to its youth.
The success of the award relies on the cooperation between local service clubs. Organizers emphasized that the project would not have occurred without the Rotary Club’s commitment to local youth and education.
The official presentation included local representatives from the school and the IODE. Those present for the award included:
Jim Keane, Principal, AMSS
Jayne Little, IODE
Chasity Reidel, recipient
Jan Casbourn, IODE
