Lambton Public Health reported a 14th death from COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton today, one more than Sunday.
The number of confirmed cases also rose to 145 from 132 cases on Sunday.
Fifty people have recovered, compared to 48 a day earlier.
The latest numbers reflect a rapid increase in testing. A total of 984 test results have been received, a one-day increase of 119.
Bluewater Health reported today the number of confirmed positive patients in hospital was unchanged at 16. Another 14 patients are believed to be infected and awaiting test results, seven fewer than Sunday.
Meanwhile, Lambton Public Health is looking for anyone who used the services of a local taxi driver who tested positive for COVID-19.
Anyone who used Greg’s Taxi service on April 1, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10 is urged to call 519-383-8331.
Health officials want to investigate the level of risk for each interaction and offer guidance to those affected. They are working with the company to collect information about its passenger trips those days but not all contact information is available.
“It is difficult to trace this person’s close contacts because of the nature of the taxi-cab industry, and we know that this taxi driver would have been in a confined space with members of the public while operating the taxi,” said Dr. Ranade, Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health.
“These reasons make it imperative that we release these details to the public so that we can speak with anyone who used this service and give them the best guidance possible.”
Symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild – like the flu and other common respiratory infections – to severe. Common symptoms include: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, and runny nose. Find more details at LambtonPublicHealth.ca.
If you think you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has it, self-isolate and use the Ontario Self-Assessment Tool or call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, fainting, or a worsening of any chronic disease symptom, call 9-1-1 or go to hospital Emergency Department.
