Fans will have a chance to meet Bright’s Grove native and 2003 Masters golf champion Mike Weir at the Sept. 20 Sarnia Sting home opener.
Weir has a campaign to address youth mental health, with his foundation pledging up to $200,000 in matching funds to open a local Access Open Minds facility.
The local golf legend will be available for photos and autographs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. outside the Progressive Auto Sales Arena’s main gate (Gate 5).
Though not required, donations to the Chip-In Challenge for Mental Health are appreciated. Hot dogs, hamburgers and refreshments will be available for purchase.
The Sting will honour Weir with a video tribute and ceremonial puck drop prior to the 7:05 game against the Hamilton Bulldogs.
