The outbreak of COVID-19 at Vision Nursing Home continues to spread, with five of eight new cases in Sarnia-Lambton today traced to the Sarnia long-term care home.

Lambton Public Health said this morning five more people at the home — three residents and two staff — have tested positive.

Twenty residents and 17 staff have been infected since the outbreak began April 23. Four residents have died.

It’s been an especially difficult week for the 146-bed facility on Wellington Street, with more than half the cases (20 of 37) occurring since Saturday.

Sarnia-Lambton now has 243 cases of COVID-19. The death toll is unchanged at 19.

The outbreak status at two other senior homes in Sarnia is also unchanged. Two residents of Village on the St. Clair and one resident at Marshall Gowland Manor have tested positive.
