Local students pursuing careers in healthcare, the trades, or the arts can now access financial support through the Sarnia Community Foundation’s latest round of scholarship applications.

The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) has officially opened applications for three distinct scholarships designed to invest in the future of Sarnia-Lambton’s workforce and creative community. These funds target specific sectors including medicine, skilled trades, and the performing or visual arts.

The Norma and Don Moore Scholarship is currently seeking applications from doctors or nurse practitioners enrolled in programs leading to an Ontario license. In an effort to bolster local healthcare resources, the foundation notes that preference will be given to candidates who intend to practice within Lambton County. The deadline for this application is March 6, 2026.

For those entering or continuing an education in the trades, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul / J&JY Trades Scholarship is available. This fund provides essential support for students pursuing practical, hands-on careers that remain vital to the region's industrial and residential infrastructure. Applications for this scholarship must be submitted by 4 p.m. on March 31.

The Joanne Klauke-Labelle Memorial Scholarship focuses on the community's cultural heartbeat, supporting students entering post-secondary programs for drama, music, dance, or visual arts. Young artists have until April 10, 2026, to apply for this specific award.

"The SCF has a number of incredible scholarships available, helping students and families with lower the costs of post secondary education," says Mike Barron, Executive Director of the Sarnia Community Foundation. "We are thankful to the donors who help with donations!"

Since its establishment in 1983, the SCF has served as a primary vehicle for local philanthropy, returning over $14 million to community organizations and projects. Operating 134 different funds, the foundation acts as a bridge between local donors and the specific needs of the Lambton County community.
