Bagpipes, Highland dancing and Scottish music will head onto the St. Clair River Sunday aboard the Duc d’Orleans II.
Fork & Thistle is hosting a Scottish Duc Cruise and Whisky Tasting on Aug. 30, combining a river cruise with whisky and food pairings, live entertainment and dancing. The 19-plus event can also be attended without taking part in the whisky tasting.
Entertainment includes bagpipes, performances by the Neufeld Highland Dancers and an acoustic set from Ailís Ferguson featuring traditional and contemporary Scottish songs.
Eventbrite lists the event from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., while the Duc d’Orleans’ own public schedule lists the Scottish cruise at 2:30 p.m. Guests should use their ticket information for boarding details.
The current Duc d’Orleans II was built in Rhode Island in 1987 as the Spirit of Newport. Its current owners purchased the vessel in 2005, brought it to Sarnia and renamed it the Duc d’Orleans II, replacing the earlier vessel that had operated locally.
The boat operates sightseeing, dining and special-event cruises from its Front Street dock throughout the season.
The Scottish Duc Cruise takes place Sunday afternoon from Sarnia Harbour.
