Liam Fogel of Sarnia Christian School lost his shoe but won the race during a cross country meet held Oct. 8 at Canatara Park.
Despite literally running out of his runner, Liam finished first in the boys Grade 7-8 division of the meet, which featured Christian schools from Sarnia, Wyoming, Wallaceburg, Chatham and Windsor.
Sarnia placed second overall.
