With his family by his side, John Lenard Chayer passed away at Bluewater Health on Monday, September 9, 2024 after his battle with cancer. John was 65 years of age. John leaves behind his beloved wife Estelle, his daughter Kathleen and his step-children, Lisa (Ryan) Beaulieu, Kyle Moynes (Bre), and Megan Moynes. He was the adored Poppa to two beautiful little girls, the apples of his eyes, Mallorie and Aubrey Beaulieu. He was also loved by Matty and Alex Hallman. John was the caring baby brother to the late Carolyn Chayer (2020), Marianna (Peter) Naish, and Bernadette (Gregg) Goshorn. John is predeceased by his parents, Polidor and Marguerite Chayer. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and godchildren.
John took immense pride in having devoted his entire career to fulfilling a fundamental need for all Ontarians. His professional journey encompassed every facet of electricity generation, spanning hydro, nuclear, and thermal power. Beyond his professional achievements, John’s passion for family was paramount. He cherished his wife, daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and godchildren with boundless affection. His greatest joy came from his deep fascination with planes, trains, and automobiles. Ever eager to share his expertise, John was always the first to offer explanations and insights to anyone eager to listen.
A generous man to the very end, John was a registered organ donor, and his family finds immense comfort knowing his cornea’s will allow someone else to literally see the beauty of this world through his eyes.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the both the emergency department and the palliative care unit at Bluewater Health, Sarnia for their compassionate help during this difficult time.
