It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, Nonno, and friend, Ernesto Ferrera on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Bluewater Health, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Fosca Ferrera (nee Gaccioli) for 57 loving years. Loving father of Lisa Kindred (Mike), Laura Downie (Doug), and Dino Ferrera (Jenn). Cherished Nonno of Connor, Julia, Noah (Brennah), Mikayla, Jordan (Lisa), Owen, and Ella. Dear brother of Maria Icaobelli (the late Gino), brother-in-law of Gino Di Filippo, and Anna Harquail (Frank). Predeceased by his parents Federico and Giacomina, sisters Anna Di Filippo and Rosaria Bianchi (Dino), and brother-in-law Mauro Gaccioli. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Ernesto’s journey was marked by a profound faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour that anchored him through life’s storms. His unyielding work ethic, through 37 years with Catalytic at Suncor, both as a labourer and a volunteer fire fighter, was an inspiration to his family and to the colleagues who worked alongside him. Ernesto’s greatest joy were his grandchildren who he loved unconditionally. He will be remembered by his family as kind and loving, compassionate and supportive, hardworking and devoted. A private graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery.
