The names listed were largely researched and documented by Robertson, whose work and advocacy earned her an Order of Ontario nomination this year.
The unveiling coincided with Orange Shirt day, a day of memorial for indigenous families impacted by Canada’s residential school system.
Robertson herself is a residential school survivor. She was 11-years-old when she and her two younger sisters were sent to Mohawk Institute residential school in Brantford in 1947.
