Why should that land be taxed?

A landowner says zoning bars development on her small forest, and asks why land that serves as habitat and public benefit should still be taxed.

I read and support Greg McKonkey’s article. He is right.

However he misses an important point: I own a ‘small forest’.

Zoning will not allow any development. It is primarily a benefit to biodiversity, a habitat if you will and the environment, for the public good.

It needs attention to maintain and fence which cost. Why should that land be taxed?
